The house was built in 1880 by Oscar Bomanson, farmer and banker. He lived in the house with his wife and four sons. In 1922 the house continued to flourish in the hands of Oscar’s son Gunnar and his wife Naemi, when they opened up Kvarnbo Pensionat On the south side of the house there was a large market garden and a bee-keeping farm, which gave financial support to the activity. Naemi was not just a gardener, a beekeeper and a boarding-house keeper; she also worked in the post office provided by the house. The first Åland savings bank office has also been accommodated here. Kvarnbo Pensionat was kept going until the end of the 1960’s. After that the Bomanson’s stayed in the house for a few more years, but in the mid-seventies the house was left empty.
